Hong Kong Trip 2008 Update 3

My friend Clarence brought me to a place rich with history - checkerboard hill. Let me brief you on the history of this hill. The concrete wall facing Kowloon of this hill was once painted in bright red and white checkered pattern. Planes landing in the old Kai Tak airport will have to make a 45 degrees turn in front of the checkerboard in order to land. In the old days, people will get a magnificent view of planes peforming the turn right in front of them when standing on the hill top. However nowadays, what is left on the walls are peeled off paints which shows the Hong Kong government actually does nothing to preserve a place rich with history, unlike Singapore. A small trivia is, this is the same hill where Ma De Zhong and Wu Zheng Yu have their men's talk in the TVB series, "Triumph in the Skies" which is also Chong Shang Yun Xiao. There is one scene where they recount on their childhood memories about how they came and spot planes over here when they were young.
