Hong Kong Trip 2008 Update 2
Hi all! Really miss you all!!! This few days quite eventful. On Sunday, my parents and I went to visit my grandparents. It just feels SO GOOD to be in some where you are familiar with, the noises, the sights, the smell and ofcourse the TASTE (which naturally means food, Ahaha...). Hong Kong has this very special charisma that lingers in the air. Maybe because I am born here, deep inside me, there is still this connection with this place, but don't worry, Singapore is still my home, its where I grow up and where all my friends are.
Anyway, the first lunch in Hong Kong already gave me a visual shock, (I only say visual, because I controlled my diet), its like going to the US and everything is double the food portion in Singapore. (E.g. The rice given here is equals to two bowls of rice in Singapore). But don't worry for me because until now I haven't gain any weight yet and I hope this will stay until I come back, every morning, I will go to the beautiful park below my aunt's block and exercise, I am quite proud of myself. Haha!
Ham and egg noodles
Baked salted chicken
Pork chop spaghetti
After visiting my grandparents, we went back into Tung Chung for dinner with my mum's side relatives. Its the first time I see my cousin's baby! He is super cute and ENERGETIC, he is really STRONG. Haha... He can wriggle his way out of your arms even when hugging him tightly. Haha! And none of our relatives successfully put him to sleep except for his grandmother which is also my aunt. Haha... Oh, the dinner at night was super nice~~~ We had Shanghai food, if anyone comes to Hong Kong, I surely will bring them to this restaurant, I am pretty sure the chefs there are Shanghainese, the taste of the Gyoza (Guo Tie) is the best I have ever tasted!!! The thickness of the taste of the pork and the crispiness of the skin... Woho, just high! If any stupid bum comes to me and say Singapore is a food paradise, I will kick him and send him all the way to Hong Kong! Hong Kong and supposedly Taiwan is the real food paradises in Asia ok!
My cousin's baby, Lang Xuan
On Monday, I went to my grandfather's birthday celebration. It is those once in a blue moon type of dinner I would go to. The dishes on that night was those you would see on a rich man's table. There were prawns, Fuo Tiao Qiang, abalone (those you need to use your fork and knife type which means it has a considerable size), Scallop, chicken shark fin soup, claypot Kang Kong, steamed fish, roasted pork, chicken, fried rice, ee mian, shou bao and fruits. Did not really enjoyed very much during the dinner, just a decent conversation with relatives (not very close with my father's side relatives). Anyway, I will pass the gospel tracks to my grandfather before I return to Singapore, hope he will read it.

Tuesday was a really happy day!!! Coz my aunt and I went to a tour agency and decide on going to Taiwan on next Monday!!! We wanted something relax so we chose a more relaxed tour schedule, haha... We will be going to flower and fruit orchard, Taipei 101, Shi Lin night market, etc. What really attracted us is there is a free and easy day on the third day where they will give us a one day subway ticket and we can go anywhere we want! We will be going for 4 days, 3 nights and will be flying on Eva Air, an airline I have not flown before! Haha... Looking forward to the food and the shopping!!!
My mum enjoying her shopping! Haha...
Wednesday, we went to Mui Wo in Lantau Island to visit my father's friend, Uncle Raymond in an old folk's home. Anyway, this is the second time I come back to Hong Kong during summer, I didn't know Hong Kong can have such great weather and clear skies, (My photos will be the evidence), might be due to the government's effort to improve air quality due to the Olympic games. Anyway its quite saddening to see Uncle Raymond's state now, its so much difference from last year when I last saw him, he is bed ridden and has became so thin and he is diagnosed with skin cancer also. Haiz... Just makes me reflect on how fragile life is... Don't know whether will he still be here on our next visit to Hong Kong. Anyway, we went to the old harbor seafood restaurant to eat seafood again (remember the one I introduced on my posts last year when I am in Hong Kong?)!!! I just feel really spoiled, spoiled with good food!!! Ahaha... But the mosquitoes here also feasted on me, my whole leg is full of mosquito bites after a day in Mui Wo!!! Very itchy!!!

Anyway, I will continue my update when I am back from Taiwan! All the best to you all. Anyway, please pray for my aunt in US, her friend flew over from Hong Kong to join her for holiday, but yesterday, they met with a car accident. Her friend went into coma and my aunt has a bit of internal bleeding. Her friend is suppose to fly back to Hong Kong today but can't now. Her friend has already woken up from coma but has 3 broken ribs, my aunt don't need to go for surgery but have to stay in hospital for observation. Thank God that God saved their lives.
