Friends

Besides God, I must also thank the brothers and sisters who were there, bringing joy to me, letting me forget all the worries everytime we were together. Sorry to some that I did not let my problems known to you all, but even if I had wanted to share, I would have forgotten, because I am just too happy when I am with you all and would have forgotten what worries and troubles I had. Of course, I thank God for brothers that prayed for me and last but not least, thanks be to God!

Went to Teo Heng KTV Music Centre for K session few weeks back, the "highest" K session I had ever had. We went totally crazy and even out of mind when singing some really stupid songs like "爱无赦”,"Jam Jam Bo", "Girlfriend", "Umbrella" and "Barbie Girl", oh yes and we had audiences staring at us, amused, from outside the room, coz we were literally dancing crazily on the sofa! "Go Go Brother, Go Go Sister~~~", "Jam Jam Bo~~~" Ahaha...

Was flipping through the Bible and God spoke to me again.

He said, "If you listen carefully to the voice of the LORD your God and do what is right in his eyes, if you pay attention to his commands and keep all his decrees, I will not bring on you any of the diseases I brought on the Egyptians, for I am he LORD who heals you." Exodus 15:26

Thank God!

I hope you all can watch through the whole MV, because it touched me and I hope it touches you too. The God who delivered the hebrews out of Egypt is the God we believe in. If he did not forsake the Hebrews and brought them out of suffering, he too will bring us out of our sufferings. He does not break his promises. I was suddenly overwhelmed with emotions when I watched this, I think God has really spoken to me through reminding me the story of Exodus. Let us not be like the Jews, after all He has done for them, they rejected His son, Jesus and nailed him to the cross. Let us forever follow in the way of our heavenly Father.

Sufferings are Here to Build Us Up

The ride this few months has been a bumpy one. However, what I saw was how God has his way of using sufferings to build us to be stronger persons. During this period of difficulty, God talked to me through Rev. Stephen Tong’s sermons on Joseph. God let terrible things happen to Joseph but it was to build him up, and Joseph set a great example of how we should react during sufferings. Joseph stood by the words of God even if that meant trouble for him. I admit that I am a paranoid and someone that runs away from problems. But God let me witness that he will not forsake and will lead his children through storms. Recently Uncle Kim Hao’s sharing gave me a lot of strength; I see the peace and confidence that God has given him even in times of trouble. Just in a few months time, my father and I were diagnosed with problems with our body; luckily it was not something serious. I was down, really down, now I look back to see how silly I was. I didn’t wait patiently for God, but panic on my own. And then my father had to do this operation which kind of failed on the first go. I had to stay at home to take care of him even if we both have always not been on good terms. All that unwillingness just swelled up in me. But God wanted me to obey. He wants me to learn the lesson of love not only just inside CYYAM but also at home. Now God has led my father to an earlier operation to be done in Mount E on the coming Monday (please do pray for him). Its very ex, but at least we now know what the underlying problem is. And yes, we learnt to stop going to Changi Hospital next time, its just terrible, the doctors and everything…

I saw God’s hand bringing us through, even though sometimes we lack faith in God, I saw myself changing after all this ordeal. I am getting rid of some habits that does not pleases God and I am sure this is one of the reasons why God allowed the ordeal to happen. Please continue to pray for my family, it’s quite taxing financial wise because of all these. Pray that I will continue to let God mould me into a better person.

And yes. My results are out. MP got a B and passed my internship also. GPA 2.8. Good bye to Poly life. So fast... Maybe will write a post on my reflection on Poly life, but not now. Too emo to write now. Haha... Thank God for the results though.

Its Gotta be Food Again!!!

Ok, its me, the food critic again. Its not that I have nothing to do, but I just love food! Haha…

Soup Spoon

Went to the famous Soup Spoon Restaurant for the first time in my life with brothers and sisters. A doubt about the Soup Spoon has always been in my mind, the doubt is whether a meal eaten in the Soup Spoon can really fill your stomach? Coz its just soup! You know? But then I WAS WRONG, the soup in soup spoon is amazingly filling and the size of the bowl is not small man!!! The bowl of soup is usually sold in a set. The set includes a drink and a sandwich and guess how much it costs??? JUST $11 and they will stuff your stomach to the fullest. That’s cheaper then Ajisen Ramen Restaurant lor! I ordered a bowl of mushroom soup, a smoked salmon sandwich and a glass of cold iced lemon tea. The mushroom soup is super gravy like and before I could finish, my stomach was already full and I left it to continue with my sandwich, after the sandwich my stomach was already near explosion. The soup is super rich with mushroom; just a bit plain in taste for my choice, the sandwich is super delicious. Other soup choices out there were, Pumpkin soup, Tokyo Chicken Soup, Clam Chowder and Beef Soup. Thumbs up for Soup Spoon, now I know why they are so successful in business.

Inle Restaurant

Me, Gloria and Yan Heng went to this Myanmar Restaurant one Sunday before going to Stephen Tong’s sermon. At first I was a bit doubtful of whether would I like the food there, coz its Myanmar cuisine. But it turns out not too bad, though not a restaurant that I will go in on my own will. We ordered this deep fried cucumber or something like that. Not bad. For my main course, I ordered this pork with shrimp paste, gosh, and its super salty!!! Have to eat it with rice and drink a lot a lot of water, if not kena kidney problem. Quite a special experience, first time eating Myanmar food.

We had a small event on Valentine’s Day. The activities included making Popiah and watching a Korean variety show which features Super Junior prepared by Xiao Ling and gang. Haiz… Super Junior (Sorry, I don’t like boy bands. Haha…) The DIY Popiah is fun to make sia. We added fillings of what we like on our own will. Wai Yee is the most creative, go add 米粉 inside the Popiah and let Mei Feng eat. Later she even put Ferrero Rocher into the Popiah and eat it herself, gosh… I CAN’T imagine the TASTE. (Wai Yee we know we have to try out new things, but some things put together sure not nice de is common sense. AHAHAHA… Like who would put da bian and food together? AHAHAHA… Just kidding, don’t be offended ar. AHAHAHA…) The Popiah taste quite ok, the 米粉 is very nice leh, but Mei Feng don’t like, I like the strong sesame flavor it has. But nonetheless, had a great time and great night. We are celebrating love you know, but not the BGR kind of love, but love inside the fellowship. Haha…

Victor’s Kitchen

Before I even go to this place for dinner, I had already known this small tiny restaurant through a food variety show shown on TV. It is famous for its Dim Sum and most importantly the steamed carrot cake served with self made XO sauce. The owner/main chef of this restaurant is a Hong Konger who set up a small shop over here to make authentic Hong Kong Dim Sums. However, I didn’t note down the location of the restaurant. Yan Heng brought us there before a Stephen Tong sermon on Sunday. Now I know the location, it’s a Sunshine Plaza near Sim Lim Square. The dim sums were nice, very Hong Kong style. Of course, we ordered the signature dish, the steamed carrot cake, really nice and soft with plenty of carrot slices, just that the 腊味 and dried scallop is pitifully few. The carrot cake is best eaten with the XO sauce. Go try out. Highly recommended.

Last two weeks, I joined Xiaoling, Wai Yee, Shu Mei, Kai En, Wei En, Vinc and family, Pei En, Wei Hong, Yan Heng for steamboat (Haha… I sacrificed Stephen Tong’s sermon for that, ops…) Had a great fellowship. Had a super loud and crazy laugh when Yan Heng poured everything into the steamboat making the soup nearly overflow. Haha… Anyway, got self control this time also, I didn’t literally stuff my stomach until bursting point. The food taste ok, coz I too engrossed in all the laughing and chit chatting. And yay, my first photo with baby leah, isn’t she cute??????

Went window shopping afterwards and wore this stupid hairband in one of the shops. Haha... Do I look like M-I-C-K-E-Y M-O-U-S-E???

The first time I saw this photo, I laughed until like crazy, thanks har, Wai Yee, your creativity brought us many laughter! Haha…

Sermon Application

We went to this restaurant on the first day of my aunt’s arrival; it is located right opposite of Central Shopping Mall. We ordered a bowl of 肉骨茶 for everyone, pig trotters, pig intestines, 凤抓 and a plate of vegetables. The肉骨茶 is the very typical Singaporean style of肉骨茶, heavily seasoned with pepper and garlic. I personally prefer the Malaysian style of肉骨茶which is more 重in 药材味. Anyway, the肉骨茶 here taste like any of the肉骨茶 in Singapore. The portion of food given is quite generous and the price is quite reasonably

Long Beach Restaurant

We had our reunion dinner at Long Beach restaurant, Long Beach has always been famous for their seafood and since it has been a long time since the last time I went there, I was looking forward to the sumptuous meal waiting for me on that day. Long Beach restaurant recently just went through a big renovation, there is no more mood lighting, the restaurant now is really bright and the setting and ambience have totally changed.

捞鱼生, the dish is quite beautiful, haha… But maybe it’s the sauce they put, the dish turns out to be pretty sour, not exactly my liking, though I still like the crispy crispy chips (What are they called? I don’t know.)

Deep fried fish, this dish is nice, I like it, the fish is fresh and tender and the soya sauce is really fragrant, the fish is good to eat it with a bowl of rice.

杂菜煲,this dish is not bad, the gravy is really tasty plus there is 金针菇inside, I love 金针菇 that’s why. Haha…

姜葱蟹, this dish is the 主角, it is quite ok, the crab meat is fresh and tender but what I personally feel is that the chef 炒得不够入味, just mediocre standard…

Dessert, Vanilla ice-cream, just your normal ice-cream, but what is interesting is its presentation, below your bowl of desert is a transparent bowl filled with reddish water and dry ice, the effect makes the desert looks really appetizing, though I didn’t finish the whole thing, I was full already! Haha…

The food didn’t really reached my expectation of what it should be, given its famous name, it should have been better. But anyway, really enjoyed the reunion dinner with my family and aunt! That’s more important.

Hehe… 。。We are lazy bums. 。。

Food rating: 3/5

没倒数,太多人了, we lost track of time le, 听到炮竹声才知新年已到。很开心,谢谢大家let me join in the fun!

彩灯装饰,that’s Winnie the Pool.

My aunt’s friend came over to Singapore to join her, so before they came, we went to check-in for them at the hotel, the hotel is those really small ones, can consider as motel also lar, what’s so interesting about this hotel is that the LIFT!!! This is how the lift looks like:

Super old style of lift right!!! Victorian style!!! Those metal gates!!! Oh my. Quite scary and exciting at the same time during my first ride in it, coz really got the ghostly kind of feel, plus that hotel is those small small ones and the landing at each level is very Victorian style also, dim dim dull dull type, ok stop, I am letting my imagination run wild, the rooms are ok, but the beds are too soft, too springy… I wonder how I can sleep well in this hotel.

Allson Hotel Restaurant

After the check-in, we went to Allson Hotel which is next to it only and had lunch. I ordered a medium raw lamb chop but it came as a fully cooked one, never listen properly sia… Nevermind, coz its very delicious! Haha… Maybe I was hungry? Or may it was the gravy? Just find it delicious. Haha… And yes, the orange juice is super fresh!
